Mid-Level Biologist
Artemis Environmental Services, Inc. is currently seeking a full-time Mid-Level Biologist to be based in Southern California and serving projects in various counties throughout Southern California and the southwest. We are looking for someone who is excited to be a part of a small, growing company, is just as comfortable working independently or as part of a team, can demonstrate leading and completing project tasks without supervision, can conduct long-distance strenuous field work activities in various terrains and in variable weather conditions, and is comfortable travelling long distances to field sites that often involve overnight stays. The candidate for this position must also demonstrate the ability to complete office/writing tasks independently and have experience/previous knowledge with a variety of environmental documents and regulations. This position is anticipated to be a relatively equal split between field work and office work, and a strong emphasis on writing skills and working knowledge of writing environmental documents will be a part of this position.

Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:
- Wildlife and botanical surveys
- Environmental compliance monitoring and reporting
- Conducting wetland delineations and/or assisting with delineations
- Data collection, entry, interpretation and analysis
- Working with Project Managers to lead field efforts
- Preparing technical studies and reports
Minimum requirements for applying include:
- A minimum of 5 years professional environmental consulting experience outside of academic requirements related to terrestrial biology is required for this position. Additional schooling, workshops, or certifications will not count toward the minimum 5-years on-the-job experience
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant scientific discipline (e.g., biology, wetland science, plant ecology, or similar field)
- Training in relevant biological disciplines (e.g., wildlife, plants, fisheries, herpetology, or entomology) and/or aquatic resources
- Local (southern California) experience conducting construction monitoring and surveys for terrestrial biological resources
- Demonstrated experience with field data collection methods and equipment; and maintaining accurate field notes, maps, project files, work logs, etc.
- Highly motivated with excellent documentation skills, interpersonal skills, and communication skills; and the ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Detail oriented; intuitive; resourceful; strong time management skills; demonstrated ability to work independently in the field and in the office
Desired:
- USFWS permits for conducting presence/absence surveys for sensitive species
Pay is an hourly rate based on experience.
